Coldplay
The highlight of the week was easily getting to see Coldplay this past Tuesday at MSG. I'd like to thank my buddy Chris for making it happen (albeit last second). It was the first time I had seen a concert there in ages. I think the last one was when I saw U2 during their Achtung Baby tour! Geez, like I needed another reminder of how old I am.
I had to call in sick late for the first time (I made the call from the parking lot! Talk about last mimute), but I must say it was well worth it (As it turns out, I'm still getting paid for that day!). I even ran into T on the train after my harrowing drive from work in which I had to get my Dad to drive me to the station. To this day I don't think he knows why I would call in sick just to see a concert but thank god he came through like he always has.
Anyway it was a good thing I did run into T since my cell phone was about to die which would've made getting in touch with Chris problematic. Since T was waiting to meet up with Dave, Jake and Melissa we killed some time at this Happy Hour near the Garden.
I was all dead set on getting a concert t-shirt but was appalled to see how much they charge nowadays. As it turns out I ended up spending most of my money on beer and wouldn't have been able to afford any of them. Which was fine by me since I didn't really like the shirts they had there anywhere. Besides, there's always ebay.
For the record, I've always been a big t-shirt guy, especially when it comes to concerts. I like having them because: 1) they're a better reminder of that day than just the stub or a program 2) because I look forward to wearing them to death, so they have that weathered look and 3) Because I don't mind being a bollboards for bands that I like.
Back to the concert. I didn't know what to expect and I must say I'm glad because I went into the performance 'fresh.' Coldplay didn't disappoint, they sounded great and they didn't waste any time between songs. Which is why I guess they 'only' played for about 2 hours. All in all I guess it's better to be left wanting more than wishing that they would get off the stage already.
After the show I went with Chris down to Bob where he DJ's on Tuesdays. Our friend Regalle was celebrating her pre-birthday there that night so I figured that I might as well just stay in the city and see her and some other peeps I don't get to see as much now that I'm on LI.
