Got Pope?

I'd like to give a shout out to the newest Pope, the artist formerly known as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, whom will now be known as Benedict the XVI! I must say, as much as I am still sad to see John Paul II to go, I am glad that his homie got the nod to be the new Pontiff. I know there are some Catholics out there that are concerned that the new Pope will be too conservative but to be honest I have no idea what this guy has in store for the rest of us. I just think it's funny that he's known as "God's rotweiller." Come to think about it I think it's kinda neat that we have a bad ass in the Vatican. Now maybe people will think twice before they make fun of his hat!

Today also marked the 10th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. Don't worry, I have no plan on mocking this occassion. I can't believe it's been 10 years since Timothy McVeigh brought terrorism to U.S. soil. Hopefully we'll never have to worry about any of our own citizens doing anything that heinous here ever again.

I know that this is going to sound incredibly lame, especially after the last 2 events that I mentioned that took place today, but here goes. I had nothing better to do today and it was nice out so I decided to go out and take a shot at this week's Mega Million jackpot which stands at $168 million big ones! (editors note: I have no intention of watching the drawing because whenever I play the lottery, I prefer to wait til the following day to find out what the numbers are because I like to go to sleep and dream about what I'm going to do with all that money.)
So I went over to the good old Sun Vet Mall and grabbed me some pizza at good old Aegean pizza. Mmmm now that's good eats. From there I went over to the corner lottery store and plunked down $5 for Mega Millions (quick pick of course). The cashier asked if I wanted "Cash" and I said, "You Betcha."
Then I made my way to Toys R Us to indulge my inner Star Wars geek. I was hoping to score the rare, Toys R Us exclusive, Hologram Yoda figure that was supposed to be given out on April 10th with any purchase of $25 or more worth of Star Wars merchandise. It was a shot in the dark, I figured that they gave them all away but I was in the neighborhood and it was nice out so I went in. I lingered around the designated Star Wars area looking around to see what they had in stock. Finally I made my move, went over to the customer service desk and made my yoda inquiry. Cathy looked me over and said, "As a matter of fact we still have some. One per customer only." Me being mildly surprised that they had it immediatly whipped out my cash and took that bad boy home. I gotta tell ya, it's the little things in life that make it all worth it.
