19- D'Oh!
Well if you read my last post you know that all of those playoff superstitions paid off BIG TIME! It's been 10 glorious days since the G-Men brought the title home back to the Big Apple and as you can imagine, I've been in pure sports heaven ever since.
Just letting it soak in its such an awesome feeling when one of your teams pulls through, especially when it comes out of nowhere.
Looking back at the actual game, I remembered something that kinda gave me an inkling that the Giants had a shot. After reading the Sports Guy's lament the day after Super Bowl XLII he touched on something about the halftime show that kinda made sense to me.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were the halftime entertainment and The Sports Guy mentioned that during that performance he had a flashback to the Pats first Super Bowl win against the Rams when U2 performed and they played "Beautiful Day" and hearing that song in that situation he knew they were going to win.
I bring this up because at the beginning of the game I was watching the teams come onto the field I made it a point to see what song each team came out too. The Giants came out to Kanye West's "Stronger" and I can remember getting goose bumps seeing the guys come out to that! I was already 4 beers in at that point but I gotta tell ya once I heard the Daft Punk part of the song I was absolutely amp'd!
Now that I was revved up I awaited the Patriots' entrance and was surprised to hear them come out to Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" which takes a little while to get going and so I didn't feel like it was that inspiring.
I thought to myself that "Stronger" was the perfect song for the Giants to come out too because that's exactly what they did since they lost to New England on the last day of the season. I mean I'd be lying if I said I knew then that they would go on to shock the world (I mean that's what I was hoping for all along), but hearing that song settled me down a bit.
Everything else you pretty much know already:
Talk is Cheap. Play the Game.
The Giants' front four kicking the shit out of Brady.
The Hail Manning or Catch 42.
Perfection Denied!
Spygate: Cheaters Never Prosper.
3rd Super Bowl title and the only team to win at least one Super Bowl in three straight decades!
The Parade Down the Canyon of Heroes (I'll post the pics I took next time).
Stomp You Out!
Eli's Disney World Commercial.
Add all of that up and what do you get?
Priceless.
Yeah, I'm going to enjoy this one for a very long time.
