Brrrrrrrrr

Just got back from taking out the trash and boy is it cold outside. Truth be told, I don't mind the cold weather so much. Don't get me wrong, it's far from ideal but at the same time I feel that growing up here in the Northeast toughens you up.
Like I always say: "You have to endure the sour to truly appreciate the sweet." Okay maybe I got that from a fortune cookie but it's still true. Then again, I have the benefit of having a roof over my head complete with heat and indoor plumbing but still...

Speaking of fortune cookies, I got an interesting fortune tonight after woofing down a plate of sesame chicken and washing it down with a pint of wonton soup:

"Worry not that no one knows of you: seek to be worth knowing."

Sometimes I get caught up in wanting to be some great success and worrying that may never come to pass, instead of just focusing on making myself happy and letting everything take care of itself.

I have to drive my folks to the airport for the umpteenth time this year (what would they ever do without me?). Since they both retired, if they're not going to Atlantic City they're getting on a plane somewhere. Then again I they deserve their time off and I'm glad that they aren't just sitting around. Seeing them take advantage of this time of their lives inspires me. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, I'll be traveling as well.

This time they're off to Guadalupe, Mexico to see the Blessed Mother. They couldn't have picked a better time to go since we're supposed to get some more snow some time tomorrow night. Then it's just me and Pogie...again, left behind to hold down the fort.
