Fashionista Dude

When my boss called me that the other day I wasn't sure if I should take it as a compliment or as a diss. Then again, I did use my lunch break to go to a sample sale all the way down in SoHo where I could buy a pair of $85 jeans I didn't need. And everyone pretty much knew that was where I went because the night before I heard about the sale from our head writer who told me about it when we were all out grabbing drinks.

Me being me I got really excited that he had gone to it because that meant I wasn't the only guy in the office that didn't mind paying $85 for a pair of designer jeans that he didn't necessarily need. Anyway fast forward to the next day when I get back to the office I felt compelled to show the HW the pair that I ended up buying and that's when my boss started laughing. But she wasn't laughing in a mocking way just in a surprised way and that's when she said that she was going to call us fashionista dudes.

I guess to her it was funny to see a couple of straight guys fussing over designer jeans. But then again I did get a great deal on jeans that would normally cost in the neighborhood of $200 which was even more important than the fact that the jeans were from a brand (Earnest Sewn) that most of my friends probable never heard of.

The bottom line is everyone has their vice(s), one of mine happens to be the fact that I like going to sample sales.

The Nation Has Spoken

Other than it raining cats and dogs today, it was a glorious day (politically speaking).

I'd like to give a shout out to America for finally waking up and coming to its senses. Now that the Democrats have taken control of the House and are about to do the same with the Senate, I can finally feel like the country is headed in the right direction.

Happy Trails Rummy: So clear was the message that was sent by my fellow Americans that Bush had no choice but to let Rumsfeld take the fall.

Speaking of America, please go and see Borat. I can't recommend a movie more than this one. Not only will you laugh out loud but you'll also gasp at some of Borat's antics and while you're doing that, you gain some insight to the "other" side of the good old U.S. of A.

Now that basketball season is started its good to see that the Lakers are off to such a good start (4-1). I'm absolutely thrilled to see how improved young Andrew Bynum is from last season. I know it's too eary to get too excited about him but I'm loving the upside of the big fella.

Speaking of basketball, I'm pleased to report that I am once again pain free (three games in a row now) after playing again on Monday. When I say pain free I mean in my feet because they were bothering me earlier in the season. Looking back on it now I would have to chalk up those problems with the fact that I hadn't played full court in so long and my body just wasn't used to it.

Energy Diet

I don't know when I decided to go on this "energy diet" but I guess it started after a read an article in the Times about it. It seemed simple enough and I've aways meant to try and be better at lowering my "carbon index."

You might be wondering, what the hell is he talking about? Basically, I'm just trying to be accountable for all the things that I either consume or dispose of. For example, I try and make sure that whenever I wash my hands at a public bathroom that I only use one paper towel sheet, two tops. Or I'll turn off the light in my room and or TV whenever I'm not there, stuff like that. Every little bit counts right?

Then there's taking public transportation whenever I can and or walk to wherever I am going as well as taking the stairs whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I'm not as tired as I was yesterday which I guess is a good thing. Although today was Halloween and I didn't get dressed up (I went out on Saturday night) I still couldn't help but feel a little mischievous. So when I got to work and remembered that I had my Darth Vader Voice Changer Mask in my desk, I couldn't resist the urge to wear it. And so, when I went out for lunch I put it on and proceeded to walk out onto Times Square and see what people thought.

For the most part people didn't really notice me. I got a few smiles here and there as well as some awkward looks but people pretty much went about there Tuesday afternoon as usual. Oh well it was still fun to do.
